ENGINE CO.305, FDNY 2005 SEAGRAVE 1000 gpm PUMPER FDNY Engine Company 305 was organized on November 15, 1924, in a then new fire station at 111-02 Queens Boulevard, in the Forest Hills section of the Borough of Queens. Ladder (then called Hook and Ladder) Company 151, was organized on the same day in these same quarters, where they are both still located. Their first alarm district consists mainly of high-rise apartment houses, large private homes and many retail stores. In 2005, Engine 305 responded to 3,311 alarms, of which 2,750 were workers. 1,373 of these were medical emergencies. Engine 305 received their current apparatus, a 2005 Seagrave model J pumper, with FDNY registration number SP0501, on March 6, 2006. The SP stands for Seagrave pumper, with the number indicating that it was the first (and actually only) Seagrave pumper built in 2005. It is virtually identical to the many Seagrave J series pumpers delivered to FDNY in 2003 and 2004, however this one is powered by a Cummins diesel engine, instead of the Detroit diesels in the prior deliveries. It is equipped with a Waterous 1000 gpm pump and has a 500 gallon booster tank. Like other FDNY pumpers ordered since 1987, no booster hose reel is mounted.
